Hamburg v Fulham
Verdict: Last year's Europa League semi-finalists, Hamburg, will look to go one step better this year as they face giant-killing Fulham. The German side have every incentive to reach the final as it will be played on their home ground, the Nordbank Arena.
Fulham have done unbelievably well to reach this stage of the competition, defeating the like of Shaktar Donetsk, Juventus, and Wolfsburg on the way. The Cottagers did have a tough, arduous train/bus trip to Hamburg so it will be interesting to see how the players cope with the excess travel.
Hamburg have had any easier path to the semi-final, in comparison to their opponents, defeating the like of PSV, Anderlecht and Standard Liege. The German side has struggled in the Bundesliga of late but their home form has remained steady, one defeat in their last 13 in all competitions in addition to 7 home games with out defeat in Europe.
In recent days, we have seen in the Champions League that the away sides have struggled for sharpness due to the lengthy travel. Fulham seem to have had an extra difficult trip to Hamburg and with all things taken to account, the home side should take a lead to London.
