Wolfsburg v Everton

Wolfsburg v Everton

Verdict: After some what dissapointing seasons for both sides last term, finishing 8th in their respective leagues, Wolfsburg and Everton hope for better outcomes this term. New Wolfsburg manager, Steve McClaren, has invested well in the summer - bringing in veteran German defender Arne Friedrich and the much coveted Danish backman, Simon Kjaer. Everton have not quite had the same impact in the transfer window as their German counterparts, with Beckford the only notable acquisition. The English though have had a very good pre-season, and have managed to hold onto the team that went on a run of only 2 league defeats in their final 24 matches.

In recent news, Everton's most creative outlet, Mikel Arteta, has agreed to sign a new 5-year contract after reported interest from Arsenal and Manchester City. This is big news for the English club and should help motivate them in putting in a good showing in Germany, before kicking off their campaign against Blackburn in a week's time. Wolfsburg showed poor home form last season, losing 8 times in the Volkswagen Arena. In prior pre-season matches, they drew 1-1 at Magdeburg and lost 2-1 to Lazio last week. I give the visitors a chance of getting something from this game.

Pick: Everton +0.25AH @1.94 (sbobet, 10 units)
Wolfsburg 2 - 0 Everton
