World Cup Friendly 2/06

Greece v Paraguay

Greece v Paraguay

Verdict: Both teams play their final friendly matches before the real thing begins. Greece drew their most recent friendly just over a week ago, a 2-2 draw against North Korea. North Korea had the better of it in the first half but the Greeks improved as the match wore on, despite making 6 substitutions in the second half. Paraguay have been more active in their recent World Cup preparations with mixed results. In their first run out, in Dublin against the Republic of Ireland, they had an incredible amount of possession but created very few opportunities. Eventually, they lost that game 2-1. In their most recent encounter, 3 days ago against the Ivory Coast, they were outplayed for 70 minutes. The Africans then had a mental meltdown and gifted the Paraguayans two goals in a game that ended 2-2.

Greece manager, Otto Rehegal, will field his strongest possible team for this encounter, with the exception of Gekas and Moras who will be rested due to slight injury concerns. Paraguay have not impressed in their recent encounters, especially against the Republic of Ireland (where they fielded a strong team). Despite their high possession of the ball, Ireland created numerous clear cut opportunities with direct balls to forwards Keane and Doyle. Greece play a similar, direct game to the Irish with Charisteas, Samaras, and Salpingidis all capable on the counter-attack.

Pick: Greece +0.25AH @1.91 (10bet, 10 units)
Greece 0 - 2 Paraguay
